Smashbook Journaling: How to make a smash book and 20 ways to use it (the 'stick anything' style of journaling and scrapbooking) - Kerrymay._.Makes
I recently got in to 'smash booking' in my Lyradori Traveler's Notebook and I must say I love doing them.  I really don't have the patience or time to create full scrapbooks and layouts, so much prefer the stick anything any way you choose method.

What is a Smash Book?

As you can see from the videos below a smash book is like a scrapbook, but following no set structure and it doesn't have to be painstakingly neat and organised.  I love that you can save receipts, tickets, photos and other keepsakes and just glue them to a page to keep forever.  I often journal alongside mine as a way of remembering special days and events.

How to Create a Smash Book

Smash books can take many forms and you don't have to use the official smash book.  You can use traditional scrapbooks, notebooks, traveler's notebooks, moleskine inserts or make them yourself using a variety of different papers or scrapbook paper and then either stitch them together or use a long armed stapler or loose binder rings to clip them together. The one in the video is using a Moleskine Notebook that I bought off Amazon. I then used scrapbook papers, ephemera, bits from magazines, washi tape, photos, stickers, tickets, stamps and journaling cards to put the pages together... the sky's the limit!

What to Use a Smash Book for:

I use my smash book to log many things.  I use it to document what I have done at work, cards received for special occasions, thoughts & feelings, big events, days out and my 40th Birthday. I even documented the Eurovision and the Epsom Derby. Let your imagination run wild and use it to document what you have done.  There will always be times when you look back on life and think "what did I do for that?" or "I wish I had documented that".

This is great! I've been looking for interactive projects to do with my niece they don't require a lot of extra prep work. This is perfect.

Thank you Anj, yes very simple to do, just need a glue stick, magazines or photos and a few coloured pens. Things like washi tape and ephemera are just added extras xx

Love the idea. I always thought the American type journaling is a little too organised and perfect for me. I'm going to do a smash book , reminds me of when we were little we made similar with our Granny. Great way to journal everyday life. Thankyou for sharing xx

My thoughts exactly, scrapbooking is too organised. I love this style of just cut and stick, a great memory keeping tool. xx

So that's what these are called! There was a gal in my art class last year who had one of these and entered it into our art show. It was accepted! Really fun idea :)

I love this idea! It's much more practical for me than planning out a scrapbook. I think I might make one with all the little paper keepsakes my fiancé and I have. :-)
