Young Crafter Spotlight: Carys

So excited to be starting a new feature on my blog - The Young Crafter. Today I am featuring a lovely young lady called Carys, who has a massive passion for scrapbooking. ​Hi, my name is Carys. I'm nine-years-old. I have an older brother named Owen. My interests include: scrapbooking, art and science. I enjoy geocaching with my family - this is a world-wide treasure hunt adventure that gets you outside exploring new places.

My mum thought it would be a great experience for me to get crafty with my memories. ? I only started scrapbooking in August 2017, as I was given a scrapbook as a birthday present twice! (Carys' mum Julie and her aunty Leanne who happen to be twin sisters bought her the very same scrapbook without consulting... spooky!)

​My favourite part about scrapbooking is that I can share a lot of special memories through photos and lovely things with friends and family.

Carys' Scrapbook Pages

​I have created a few pages, since starting in August - I like my holiday in Menorca pages because it reminds me of  fun times together. I cut out the fish from the napkins that had come from a restaurant on our holiday and made it look like they're in the sea with sparkly blue foam paper. I also like the seaside pages with the treasure box that I made with gems. It takes a long time, but it's worth it. ?

​My ideas come from my big imaginative mind. ? I like to be creative with my thoughts. At first, I wasn't too sure what I was meant to do, but as I went through pages I got more enthusiastic and realised there are no rules just have fun!

​I like to use border stickers and I cut out a  lot of my decorations from birthday cards because I like to recycle pretty things such as butterflies, words and flowers/leafs. I love using stampers and cutters too.

To begin with, I like to put the pictures on first and create around them. I don't stick anything, until I'm happy with the final design because it's okay to change your mind.

​I would recommend scrapbooking for others because it gets your mind flowing with excitement and ideas. Anyone can do it if you have belief in yourself to just try your best in everything you do!
