Mothers Day Paper Crafts: Pocket Letters

22/3/2017

Mothers Day is fast approaching, so why not make a lovely D.I.Y Pocket Letter as a personalised gift or card alternative? I made my first one last week and I love the finished result, such an easy paper craft and quick to make too.

I have been planning on making a pocket letter for quite some time now after seeing a tutorial last year by Mrs Brimbles.  I have been sitting on the pockets themselves for well over 6 months and finally got around to making one after taking part in a weekend of challenges lead by Michelle Mills and Louise Maylan as part of their Stampin' Up workshop/monthly kit. More information on the workshops can be found on my Scrapbook post.

POCKET LETTER PROCESS:

You can buy the letter sized or A5 pockets very cheaply off ebay or Amazon and you can add whatever you like to the pockets themselves.  I used a scrapbook papers from the Stampin' Up workshop kit, but you can use any 12x12 scrapbook paper. The paper is double sided, so I was able to alternate the paper in the pockets. I cut the pieces to size by lining them up to the pockets and marking them before using a paper trimmer to ensure they were all neat and aligned. Then comes the fun part.

I used a variety of embellishments and some vellum paper which I put through the printer to display my Mothers Day messages (the vellum also came in the kit). I then used some ephemera from the  February Brimbles Box to make the pages pop.  Finally I added a few gifts including pretty paper clips, chocolate, stamp stickers, pencil sticky tabs, some flower embellishments that my mum can use and a short letter / note - you can really let your creative imagination run wild here.
To be a part of the next Craft Club cycle contact Michelle Mills over on her page  www.facebook.com/uglybugplans .

I love the finished look and am so pleased that I finally got around to making one.  It only took half an hour and I now have the pocket letter bug and will be making many more for friends and family celebrations.

Do let me know what you think in the comments.  Have you tried pocket letters yet? If not I urge you to give them a go... mum is bound to love them.

That's so so cute! Mothers' Day is only coming in Belgium so I could use that as an idea. I'm an expat so offering pictures in a beautiful canvas could be great, thanks!

Love this. I'm not a big crafter, but it definitely looks fun. You've inspired to make a card for Mother's Day :)
