Junk Journal Challenge 2018
How I made my Junk Journal
To make the book, I gutted an hardback Tolstoy book then reinforced the spine using cardboard. I then made a guide and used an awl tool to make holes in the spine. I then made 2 journal inserts which I sewn in to the spine as signatures. This is the first time I have done this, so I followed this video by Gayle Agostinelli on You Tube.
I used a variety of different papers and vintage ephemera from scrapbook paper, old books, vintage sheet music, vellum, journal cards and printables. I also used envelopes and paper bags to create pockets and pouches. For the cover, I added some lace and material which I glued on to the book itself. I love the finished look and it is so sturdy.
I will be running the challenge every year as it is always popular. I have several challenges going on and mini challenges in the group that you can take part in, or you can simply just be a part of the community. If you enjoyed the post, please do pin the image at the top of the page to Pinterest and leave me a comment here on the blog. I will see you in the group soon.
Thank you to all who took part or who are still finishing their journals, I can't wait to see them, Kerry xx
