Phew, I have finally fully completed my first Creative Journal / Smash book which I started over Easter in 2016. It has quite a lot of pages as it is in one of the Moleskine cahier books. The end of the book has my Adventure Journaling Course pages that I have just completed from a course over at Mrs Brimbles I thoroughly enjoyed the course and hope that it is going to continue pushing my journaling forwards. Eek... in other news, I have won a ticket for Plannercon Europe! I know, so excited. I am seriously feeling the UKPA love - BIG TIME (I won the ticket over at the planner group Uk Planner Addicts). I'm in a state of shock. Booked my hotel and am going to stay from Wednesday so I can sight see and have a day in Bruges (only 1 hour away on the train). Hello chocolate, waffles, frites, beer, hot chocolate and planning!
Oh and the best of it all - Erin Condren is the keynote speaker... Yay!
Time for me now to complete my planning with a new Travelogue / travel journal to take with me for creative journaling on the go. Keep your eyes out for an update post on this before and after the trip.
The Planner Society Plan With Me Video:
As well as the front cover of the notebook, I also decorated the inside cover and added a functional pocket to house some of my lovely Planner Society stickers that were sent as part of the happy mail. I really love the finished product and managed to decorate the cover and inside cover and still managed to save the lovely flip book and have goodies left over. I'm going to use it as a journal, not daily, but a place to write down my thoughts when I need to or feel the urge. I'm just waiting for my new Jane Davenport Travelers Notebook to arrive now which will be it's new home ._.
Hopefully this post has inspired you to use your Planner Society and ephemera/papers for something other than your planner and to help you if you have been hoarding the pretties. Do pop me a comment below to let me know what you think or over on the You Tube video.
Have a great week,
It's been 6 months since I last shared a flip through of my Travelers Notebook every day planner (my Uglydori), so I thought it would be a great idea to post another video update as part of the 6 monthly review post for the Planner Girls Collective showing my current setup for June 2017 and my weekly and monthly layouts.
Travelers Notebook Flip Through Video:
Travelers Notebook Setup:
There have been lots of changes since my last share, some new things put in, some things taken out, a whole new collection of inserts, dashboard dividers and updated pages for my weekly and monthly planner pages, layouts and spreads. The dividers, tabs and general set up uses the gorgeous travelers notebook kit from Isabelle The Owl and it is stunning, with the clip from Shona at Away With Fairies Co.
Travelers Notebook Inserts:
I have also added some gorgeous inserts from Susie Bray, a blog planner and a Pr Tracker.
Queen Mabel and Doris over on Etsy, you can use code QMDFRIENDS15 for 15% off and visit the fb group queenmabelanddoris
Finally I have added some vellum inserts with my own pixel art work on them, they didn't print very well (printing on vellum is hard without a laser printer), but I still like how they look and like to have some of my own art work in my planner.

I decided to make some memory pages in my smash book to document the day and all of the lovely people I met along the way. You can see a video of my pages which include the one above which I love and pages I smashed of my tickets, information pack and the pages that my table added in our journal swap #chillchicks ._.
The whole weekend was perfect, a nice mix of a few chilled out drinks and food, a lovely meal, Starbucks, swimming, steam room and jacuzzi time, pampering massage and facial (and OMG a head massage too), then time to craft, journal, plan and shop till your hearts content and indeed it was. See what we got up to on the journal page itself.
(Stickers used are from the shops mentioned after the video)
I thought it would be nice to do a bit of a 'Creative Showcase' of what I have been up to at the end of the month, a bit like a monthly review, but of my art journaling and creative makes, not just of my planners. So January...
Ahhhh January you little terror. It really does sneak up on you and then grabs you by the horns saying "I will make this the most miserable month". That said and in-spite of having the flu and working ridiculous hours for the school production I am directing (Wizard of Oz), I have managed some downtime to create a little bit.
Finally I have filmed a flip through of my Travelers Notebook EDC (Every Day Carry) planner in my Uglydori, so you can see how my planning has been developing. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already.
Thanks for reading the blog and for your continued support,
Love Kerry xx
I recently got in to 'smash booking' in my Lyradori Traveler's Notebook and I must say I love doing them. I really don't have the patience or time to create full scrapbooks and layouts, so much prefer the stick anything any way you choose method.
This post uses an affiliate link, but it is for a product that I love and use myself.
What is a Smash Book?
As you can see from the video below a smash book is like a scrapbook, but following no set structure and it doesn't have to be painstakingly neat and organised. I love that you can save receipts, tickets, photos and other keepsakes and just glue them to a page to keep forever. I often journal alongside mine as a way of remembering special days and events.
How to Create a Smash Book
Smash books can take many forms and you don't have to use the official smash book. You can use traditional scrapbooks, notebooks, traveler's notebooks, moleskine inserts or make them yourself using a variety of different papers and then either stitch them together or use a long armed stapler or loose binder rings to clip them together. The one in the video is using a Moleskine Cahier Notebook that I bought off Amazon. I then used scrapbook papers, ephemera, bits from magazines, washi tape, photos, stickers, tickets, stamps and journaling cards to put the pages together... the sky's the limit!
I'd love to hear about your smash book journey in the comments below. So... do you smash book and what do you use it to document? Is there anything holding you back?
